Chicago, April 25, 2013) The invitation read the event start time for the Stanley Paul – Raelene Mittelman Scholarship Benefit as 6:00 pm, but a steady stream of guests were already making their way into the tony Gold Coast private club, twenty minutes beforehand. Word had quickly spread this year’s fundraiser was the largest crowd ever to attend (almost 400), and all the rooms at the Casino were being used for seating. Looking to snag a prime table in the main room with this year’s honoree, Candace Collins Jordan, guests were staking out their seating long before the program was set to start.
Guests were given a shiny black pebble and asked to cast their vote for one of the top five finalist to help decide the winner of this year’s scholarship. Two design students from Columbia Collage of Chicago and three from Dominican University were this year’s top five.
Chatter could be heard among the guests as they enjoyed wine and passed beverages; “Which design did you vote for”…”I’m not saying”…”I haven’t decided yet”…”It was between two”…”I liked”… and more.At the door to the main room Candace greeted everyone and — in typical Candace style – everyone got a huge smile and a hug. Candace was the picture of couture in a steel-blue strapless pant ensemble by local designer, Barbara Bates. She completed the look with Van Cleef & Arpels, Flowerlace necklace and earrings set, a fleurette motif of cascading diamonds in elegant white gold. A large portrait of Candace, created by well-known fashion illustrator, Rosemary Fanti, rested on an easel at the entryway. Guests were invited to inscribe their congratulatory comments and well wishes around the perimeter of the artwork. Debi Lilly of A Perfect Event had created floral arrangements of white hydrangeas giving the venue a light, airy feel.

Here are what a few people have been saying on CitySearch:
Shari D:
‘As an Aesthetician myself I don’t trust many people to touch my skin. Leah and her team have given me treatments and techniques to really address my acne head on. By using 3 different kinds of lasers she was able to break apart old scar tissue, destroy bacteria, and really improve the texture! I think the V Peel is amazing and easily takes a full year of age of the face and neck and is worth every penny.’
Erica Bethe Levin:
‘There’s a reason every local celeb and media hotshot goes to Leah Chavie to get gorgeous. She is the best of the best and offers luxe treatments that no one else can even touch. You’ll walk out glowing, radiant and even a bit lighter (if you opt for her Thermojet treatment).’
Kimberly Peiffer:
‘Citysearch Editorial Review. Esthetician Leah Chavie is the kind of adorable, hands-on, bubbly person who merits a gold star. And with glowing skin like hers, it’s no wonder she has clients knocking down her door to be pampered. After years in the business, Chavie branched out on her own and opened Le Crème Skincare Boutique, a quiet little refuge in Lincoln Park. Step inside the Feng Shui space and suddenly it no longer feels like the city, rather, a soothing respite where one emerges with glowing skin and a renewed sense of self. Sit back in one of several rooms and let her go to work with her signature Silk Peel Dermalinfusion, laser hair removal, vein therapy and photo facials. Her spa is the only place one can get the Biologique Facial Remodeling (a.k.a. facial Pilates) from France.’

Leah Chavie: How to Live Your Brand by Little Jack Marketing

Originally posted by Little Jack Marketing on April 26th, 2013

Once you’ve devised a great brand for your small business, you need to go into action mode and spread that message as best as you can to give your small business a fighting chance at success. When marketing guru’s worldwide say “live your brand”, we get what they mean is “care about your brand”. Few people actually undertake the task of living their brand (when they do they tend to be very successful). Leah Chavie is one of those people.

Of course, living your brand is easier when you’re the owner of a luxury skincare boutique. Leah lives her brand by showing her face around town, socializing with power players, and generally looking fabulous all around. She puts care into her appearance, and it shows. Whenever anyone sees her or her friends looking good around town, that is living proof of her brand. She is literally representative of her own customer base: outgoing, fun-loving people who work hard and play harder.
Leah started her skincare boutique in 2010, after 20+ years experience in the makeup artist industry. Since its opening, Leah Chavie Skincare has been a mainstay of Chicago’s luxury scene.

The uniqueness of the Leah Chavie brand, according to the woman herself, stems from exclusivity. Product choices are very specific, credible, and align with the the high end brand appeal. Her belief in always growing carries on to her team, who are encouraged to get additional education about the latest skincare methods. In the world of luxury spas, where trends come and go with the seasons, it’s important to stay on the cutting edge and offer the latest technologies. That is why Leah’s boutique features the detoxing body wrap that comes from Spain, and reportedly burns up to 1800 calories per treatment! That is also why she is the exclusive provider of CryoStem Cell Therapy facials (if it sounds rejuvenating, that’s because it is) in all of Chicago.

Despite having the technological upper hand over other spas, Leah instists that skincare is above all a business of personal connections. “I have traveled the world in search of beauty and healthcare and have discovered one thing:”, she says, ”that is it not the items or the treatments offered, it is the people who are there at the salon providing the care.”

Asked about how she communicates her unique brand to the world Leah stresses word of mouth, asking for referrals, and not being afraid to ask for the job. Even today, after all her success, Leah builds contacts everywhere she goes. And she never forgets to ask for the job or that extra referral.

When we asked her how she does it, Leah shrugs it off: “You have to be your brand — always.”
