Festive Body Scrubs at Leah Chavie Skincare Boutique

With the weather starting to get a tad chilly in Chicago, I can’t think of a better way to escape from the cold than from a day of pampering at Leah Chavie Skincare Boutique in Lincoln Park. Whether you’ve read about her treatments in magazines or seen Leah in action on TV, you know that she must be the real deal.  The boutique offers variety of services that are unique to the boutique. For my day of pampering, I received the cranberry mint body scrub. Leah Chavie has added the cranberry element to her scrubs to include the benefits of antioxidants. Antioxidants are beneficial for a variety of reasons when it comes to skincare. They tighten and firm the skin reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Even though wrinkles aren’t something I’m particularly worried about right now, it’s good to have firm skin especially when exposed to other elements like harsh weather that can affect that elasticity.

WHO WORE WHAT WHERE: LEATHER

Originally posted by Zak Stemer on splash.suntimes.com
Embrace the autumn chill with one of fashion’s coolest trends: leather dresses. From Catwoman to James Dean, slick black leather has always been the epitome of casual cool, but this fall labels like Diane von Furstenberg and Burberry are upping the ante with sleek, form-fitting cocktail sheaths and mini dresses with plunging necklines. Keep the look monochromatic — think black blazers, bangles, belts and bags — and you’ll give The Fonz a run for his money.

Pamper Your Skin with Mineral Makeup

Have you looked at the ingredients of your makeup lately? What you find might surprise you. Preservatives, parabens, mineral oil, chemical dyes, and fragrance are all common in drugstore beauty buys. Many dermatologists recommend mineral makeup because it’s less likely to cause a reaction in women with sensitive skin. It also doesn’t contain oil, so it won’t aggravate acne-prone skin.

Need another reason to switch to minerals? They’re natural looking, almost like a second skin. And on hot autumn days they wear better than traditional liquid makeup. Here are a few favorites from our new Leah Chavie Mineral Makeup Line and tips for how to apply mineral makeup

Leah made sure I was very comfortable and then proceeded to give me a stem cell facial. Wow, I looked ten years younger after her treatment (and the quiet atmosphere helped me unwind.) A must do!

Originally published on Groupon website by Ashley Hamer on 8/12/14.
Ever since Adam Sandler debated the virtues of shampoo vs. conditioner in the movie Billy Madison, society has wondered: which is better? If you asked Dillon Spranley, an educator at Toujours Spa & Salon in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood, she would say conditioner. Sort of.
To find out which beauty products are the most important and therefore deserve more of an investment, we talked to Dillon and to Leah Chavie, the owner of Leah Chavie Skincare Boutiquein Park West. They gave us advice in three different product categories—haircareskincare, and makeup—about what to skimp on and what to splurge on.
